Timon -> Cloverfield - The Best Kept Secret In Hollywood? (29/6/2007 9:23:21 AM)

Look around the net and details of this film are scare. No one seems to know anything about it except that JJ Abrams is involved somehow. Remember those rumours that he WASN'T directing the new TREK film? Well that's because he was fiddling with this...whatever it is.

No-one is even sure who’s directing it. All people know is that the film shot a trailer before there’s been a frame of real film shot, and we’re going to see that trailer soon probably in front of Transformers.

There was this brief description of the 'teaser' on Aintitcool last week but no one still knows what it is about.

It is from the perspective of people's camera in NYC. A huge earthquake breaks up a going away party. The people at the party go to the roof top just in time to catch lower Manhatten erupt into a ball of fire! They make their way to the street to witness the head of the statue of liberty fly down the street, end clip with screaming!

It ends with 'Produced by JJ Abrams'

So people, what have you heard?

The Net is implying that CLOVERFIELD is a giant monster film, less "Godzilla" and perhaps more The Host. The spin that makes this one different, however, is that it's told through home videos, as if the audience was getting an eyewitness account of the creature's destruction. Oh, and said beastie is being dubbed "The Parasite" at the Abrams camp.

More info is being found such as the director.

CLOVERFIELD, the hush hush sci-fi flick, is being directed by Matt Reeves. Matt Reeves, if you recall was creator of Felicity and screenwriter of such films as The Yards and Under Siege 2. One of the producers on this flick is Bryan Burk, a producer on LOST and Abrams' upcoming STAR TREK film.

It looked like it might be good, I just hope that if they focus it on THAT group of people, it had better be engaging enough script wise. Better not be Lost In New York*, with odd things happening for NO reason.

*and I dont mean Home Alone 2... [:D]*

The party bit was dreadful (the guy who said "this is going to be the best night ever" better suffer a painful death), but the scenes of action was very impressive. And although it's a bit hard to tell it looks like the camerawork will be handheld and not shakey-cam. Yes, there is a big difference between the two.

Um......nope....no idea.

porntrooper -> RE: Cloverfield - The Best Kept Secret In Hollywood? (6/7/2007 2:59:42 PM)

The teaser is mighty impressive.... probably the best actualy Teaser Trailer since the Emmerich version of Godzilla.

The roar that you hear during the teaser certainly suggests a 'Host' style movie, with a monster mashing the place up.  Various movie forums have been passing about the idea of this being a new Godzilla movie, but I don't buy it.  I just don't think that could be kept under wraps.

There was also talk that this may be a live action 'Voltron' movie.  Apparently Abrams has said before in interviews that he was involved in a live action version a while ago.  Now, I have no fucking idea what 'Voltron' is, so I did a quick search.... and now I do remember!!! A live action version of 'Voltron' would just be bat shit nuts!!  Again though, I just don't buy it.  I'm guessing it's just a monster movie with a twist in the way the stroy is told i.e. using digital camcorders.

Should be worth checking out just for Abrams involvement alone.

Just saw the trailer on Youtube.  It's fuzzy and indistinct but it still made a huge impression on me and it could be something amazing.  Blair Witch meets Garden State meets War of the Worlds?  It would nice if they did manage to keep it all a secret for a change, but January's a long way away...

Anyone finds a nice quicktime version, let us know.

Lol, only cos of the twenty-somethings the trailer suggests its based around.  (the party etc).  Of course since we have so little to go on, this comparison is obviously just a guess at this point.

Anyone think this could be a Half Life movie?[sm=33.gif]

HIM -> RE: Cloverfield - The Best Kept Secret In Hollywood? (8/7/2007 4:08:03 PM)

It might turn out to be a Pokémon movie.

holty23 -> RE: Cloverfield - The Best Kept Secret In Hollywood? (8/7/2007 6:40:05 PM)

Im beginning to get very excited about this.

I've seen a dodgy version of the trailer online but would love to see it in better quality soon.

How far are people with the puzzle(s) on the http://www.ethanhaaswasright.com/ site??

Pritchard_540 -> RE: Cloverfield - The Best Kept Secret In Hollywood? (8/7/2007 9:11:47 PM)

I've completed all 5 puzzles (with a little help from the wife) but it looks like we'll be waiting till August 1st to get any more info.  Has anyone else noticed if you go to http://www.1-18-08.com/ , right click and press play a duplicate set of pictures come up.  the one with the two girls faces can be lined up to reveal...it's actually the same face split up!  OMG!  what can it all mean?!?!  The teaser trailer is fantastic.  Somehow this has become my most anticipated movie of next year.  Aint it Cool News is speculating it's got a H P Lovecraft influence and will feature cthulhu...as i'm not really into Lovecraft all that much I had to look Cthulu up on Wikipedia, sounds interesting.

Mr Terrific -> RE: Cloverfield - The Best Kept Secret In Hollywood? (8/7/2007 9:38:16 PM)

I might be very wrong indeed but somethings I read from herehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cthulhu  match what I have seen in the trailer and from the puzzle website.

Not gonna say what they are, but if you read the whole thing, you may get my drift.
Think August, is that a coincindence?
