Keyser Soze -> Wacky Races (23/11/2005 11:09:26 PM)

Every month when my copy of empire arrives a my door the first thing i look at is the future films section just hoping to see that my all time favourite cartoon Wacky Races is being made into a live action movie, every month i am dissapointed.
Am i the only person who thinks this would make a cool movie

thomasp -> RE: Wacky Races (14/1/2006 3:58:47 AM)

unfortunately from the lack of replies it would seem that yes you are. hold on. No it could be great, get Pacino to be Darstardly and Blanchett to be Pitstop.

Lebowski -> RE: Wacky Races (14/1/2006 6:28:04 AM)

I did a thread about this on the about 2 years ago on the old forum, it had pictures and possible casting choices and everything.

No bugger replied to me either.

doctorolorinbats1975 -> RE: Wacky Races (14/1/2006 11:02:54 AM)

It's up to WB to decide to make a film, but although I can perfectly imagine Jeremy Irons as Dick Dastardly and a CG Mutley, I think it's best they left it alone given how shite Hanna-Barbara's The Flintstones and Scooby Doo were when filmed. They need a good director to give it a consistent wacky tone with maybe some sympathy for Dick.

TobiasFunke -> RE: Wacky Races (14/1/2006 2:37:25 PM)

A few years ago the papers were reporting Dustin Hoffman as having signed on to play Dastardly!  [&:]

Donald McKinney -> RE: Wacky Races (17/1/2006 11:12:40 AM)

Hasn't doing live-action versions of The Flintstones and Scooby-Doo taught Hollywood ANYTHING?? No, because The Jetsons is also up for a live-action film treatment!! [sm=34.gif]

Helen OHara -> RE: Wacky Races (17/1/2006 11:22:28 AM)

I think this may be more of a Musing....

Indeed it is, or is it a Future Film?? I don't know, can Empire confirm whether or not the rumours are true??

Helen OHara -> RE: Wacky Races (17/1/2006 11:28:37 AM)

I'll be sure and let you know if we hear anything, but right now there's nothing doing that i know of.

Rob -> RE: Wacky Races (17/1/2006 12:30:33 PM)

Who were the dwarves / midgets / little people that used to help Penelope?  Or am I thinking of something entirely different?

The Anthill Mob. They rule.

Rebel scum -> RE: Wacky Races (17/1/2006 1:27:27 PM)

This would be a good movie, but Hollywood will probably put in a shit plot for no reason and only have half the film as races. If they manage to make the races as crazy as the cartoon did, however, I am there.

Brilliant.  Thanks for that.

Rhubarb -> RE: Wacky Races (17/1/2006 2:40:04 PM)

its one of thoose things they would needlessly mess up, it would be cool if it worked.

If they did make this and didn't screw it up they should go on to amke Catch the Pigeon. I think thats what it was called!

Anyway Mutley is class, if they didn't get him right i would have to go on a small but effective fire bombing campaign!

doubleshiny -> RE: Wacky Races (17/1/2006 5:50:51 PM)

Could they have Philip Seymour Hoffman as Professor Pat Pending? If so, I will pay to have this film made.

Donald McKinney -> RE: Wacky Races (18/1/2006 11:37:36 AM)

Could you also check on The Jetsons movie, for over a decade now, it's moved from director to director, studio to studio, actor to actor. Last I heard, Steve Martin was up for the part of George Jetson, and Danny DeVito was up for Mr. Spacely. Can Empire or anyone else comfirm this??

Biggus -> RE: Wacky Races (23/1/2006 12:27:22 AM)

Jeremy Irons - Dick Dastardly
Jessica Simpson - Penelope Pitstop
Christopher Lloyd - Professor Pat Pending
Chazz Palminteri - The boss of the Anthill Mob (My personal favourite!)
Brendan Fraser - Peter Perfect
John Rhys-Davies - The Red Max

I think Nicole Kidman would be better as Peneope Pitstop, but other than that i'd be happy.

Who'd do the voice of Muttley though?

James2183 -> RE: Wacky Races (23/1/2006 1:37:20 PM)

I think Rene Zellwinger could play a good Penelope as she practically does the same role in Down with Love.

Brandon Fraser for Peter Perfect is... well perfect casting. [:D]

For Mutley I think they should do a part CGI, part live action dog. Like they did in Cats and Dogs.

MuckyMuckMan -> RE: Wacky Races (23/1/2006 2:35:45 PM)

Just to go off on a tangent.

When I bought the full series on video, my mates and I had a Wacky Races Racing night! Before the start of each episode we'd all put a pound in the pot and whoevers racer came in first would win the pot, if no-one won it would get carried over onto the next race until somebody won. It was a brilliant night, try it !

Zaphod121 -> RE: Wacky Races (23/1/2006 4:37:08 PM)

You just know that this would become another Scooby Doo if they did make it.

Biggus -> RE: Wacky Races (23/1/2006 10:26:38 PM)

Who would play this guy?

[image]http://www.hotink.com/wacky/02-d.gif[/image]

Can't help thinking of Matt Damon!!!

Biggus -> RE: Wacky Races (10/6/2012 10:46:08 AM)

I actually think this could make a genuinely fun film.

Are you still happy with the cast you chose all those year ago?

elab49 -> RE: Wacky Races (10/6/2012 11:01:00 AM)

Was this cast before anyone saw Jessica Simpson act perchance? [:D]

For some reason I was thinking about a Wacky Races film the other day and could have sworn there was a thread for it. Didn't realise it was so long ago though! [:D] Actually yeah I'm still quite happy with those choices!

NCC1701A -> RE: Wacky Races (10/6/2012 11:57:47 AM)

I would like to see this done I don't have any problems with the first two Scoody Doo films there are not classics but I like them. Would like to see Kristen Bell has Penelope Pitstop.
