Mikey C -> Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 9:52:07 AM)

Star Wars is brilliant - even (some) of the prequels are (sometimes) amazing as well!

Because everyone cool likes Star Wars, and Empire is full of cool people, there tends to be a lot of Star Wars discussion on the front page from time to time. Let's try to keep much of it in here so as not to irritate people.

So, Star Wars, eh?

Goldleader pointed out that there is Star Wars Celebration Europe coming soon. Anyone know much about it?

Biggus -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 10:08:15 AM)

I like Star Wars.

Mikey C -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 10:15:11 AM)

Star Wars films in order of goodness - best first

V; IV; VI; III, I, II

...although VI and III are a close call...
Clones was poor though. Who gave it 5 stars?!

Timon -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 10:19:50 AM)

Who else has always felt that Wedge is the true hero of the Rebellion? [:D]

simonmckergan1 -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 10:20:34 AM)

In order of fav:

V, IV, III, VI, II, I.

I can understand why a lot of people hate Clones, but I feel that it had some great scenes in it.  Who wasn't excited the first time all the jedi came stroming across the arena near the end?  Yoda fighting? Obi-Wan vs Jango?  Too many others to mention.

Don't start all that again!

Timon -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 1:24:47 PM)

Just click on it to enter the raging debate once more!

King_Bard -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 2:49:43 PM)

Stars wars is great apart from the rubbish AOTC....

and the true hero of the rebellion is this guy

Timon -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 2:57:59 PM)

Bah! He was ready to run at the first sign of those Star Destroyers.

It's all about Wedge.

Mikey C -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:04:21 PM)

I'm up for controversially suggesting Darth Vader to be the hero of the rebellion

jonson -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:09:35 PM)

I'm not a big fan, but in order of enjoyability, my list is as follows:-

V, IV, III, II, VI, I

Yes, I do rate AOTC better than Jedi, which quite frankly, is a shite film apart from the last half an hour or so.
I'm also rating the orignal trilogy in its oringal form. The CGI inserst have spoiled it, but I'm sure that's been debated on at least 10 thousand threads.
Good idea Mikey C to keep all the Star Wars talk to one thread. At least we know where you all are now. [:D]

Charlie Burns -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:09:54 PM)

Lando Calrissian is clearly the unsung hero of the Rebellion. I gotta say I simon, there are loads of cool scenes in the prequels.

simonmckergan1 -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:10:39 PM)

What about Chewie?  He made Han Solo return to save the day in a New Hope (and didn't get a medal) and turned the tide at the Battle of Endor!!!  Give the wookie some credit please.

King_Bard -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:12:21 PM)

Nah his just a big fur ball [:D]...noone can beat the mighty Adrimal Ackbar

simonmckergan1 -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:14:28 PM)

King_Bard its time u changed your tuna.....

Timon -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:18:18 PM)

Yeah, finish with the Ackbar praise. He clearly told tall tails and had a Cod complex.

King_Bard -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:19:34 PM)

so very funny timon [sm=dry.gif]

Timon -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:22:26 PM)

I apologise.

I made quite the pollock of myself.

Mikey C -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:23:32 PM)

He did spot it was a trap though - you have to give him that.

simonmckergan1 -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:24:40 PM)

Anyone here read Star Wars Novels?

King_Bard -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:27:35 PM)

ive read a few......

Mr Grady -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 3:31:23 PM)

Star Wars hey,

My preference IV  V  VI   III   I   II.

Contrary to poplular belief A New Hope is better than Empire Strikes Back.

gboywonder -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 7:00:24 PM)

Hope this is right place to post this - considered starting new thread but guessing someone will read this sometime and its been bugging me for years!

Around the release of Episode I i bought a Star Wars comic-book/magazine because it had a couple of posters in it which were cool... one was of the droids and Jar Jar i think but the other was an awesome mid-battle shot of Obi Wan and Darth Maul, lightsabers and all in the middle of the Tattooine desert.

Cut to a few weeks later - i see the movie, come home and see the poster on my wall and realise "Hang on!  That didn't actually happen right!?"  Of course Qui Gon fights with Maul in the desert but Obi Wan doesnt get in on the action till much later on in the movie...

Does anyone have any idea on what this was all about?  To my knowledge it wasnt even a deleted scene on the DVD's or anything.  Trying desperatly to find that damn poster now to prove my point as im sure many people are thinking im a little bit mental as of now... :-)

King_Bard -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 8:39:26 PM)

Darth maul was a awesome character....though the way he was taken out by obi wan was a bit rubbish...

Jaina Skywalker Solo -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 8:43:05 PM)

Yay, I just spotted this place!

The films in order of favouriteness (if that is, indeed, a word):

1) The Empire Strikes Back
2) Return of the Jedi (Ooooh controversial!  My childhood favourite)
3) A New Hope
4) The Revenge of the Sith (love it)
5) The Phantom Menace (apart from every scene featuring a fupping Gungan [:@])
6) Attack of the Clones (shit name; shitter film)

Hmm, I like the cut of your jib.  That could certainly be argued: he sacrificed the most for the cause; made the hardest choice...

He also killed his wife and lots of "younglings" though.

I agree; rampant racism in the Star Wars universe - shocking stuff indeed!!

Heh heh, yeah, especially what with Obi-Wan having the 'lower ground' and everything ... Some continuity George, please!

They should have kept Darth Maul alive and brought him back for RotS; he was much cooler than the coughing General Grievous.

I always looked at it as that Obi Wan knew what he did against Darth Maul so when Anakin goes to do it, he is already prepared due to his past so is able to defend againt it

King_Bard -> RE: Star Wars: The Empire Thread (26/4/2007 9:09:07 PM)

Generel Greivouis was rubbish in ROTS,......in the clone cartoons he was awesome...he took on  5 jedis and killed 4 ....Lucas turned him into a coughing dimwit

Hmmm, that's rather an interesting view.  [sm=33.gif]

I suppose it's just the way he talks about it; he makes it sound like it's impossible to win from the lower ground, but we know he already has.

More wily Jedi mind tricks, I expect. [:D]
