Timon -> Blade - The TV Series (7/11/2005 3:32:52 PM)

After the abomination that was Blade III, a Blade tv series was announced. Unsuprisingly Snipes has refused to do it after Blade: Trinity was bascially used as an introductionary film for the Night Stalkers instead of being a Blade film.

Now according to Aintitcool, the new Blade has been cast. The new “Blade” is Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones, currently seen in the FX series "Over There", which is now officially over at FX.

Indeed it does, with a feature length pilot it would appear. I have mixed feelings about this, but have been watching some of the clips on the Bravo website and it looks better than I expected...

There's dozens of clips from all the episodes plus interview clips and stuff right here in the Video Gallery: http://www.bravo.co.uk/blade/

Feast your fangs.

BatFan -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (15/1/2007 7:27:24 AM)

The series was cancelled in the U.S. so don't expect too many episodes to be shown. Or much quality for that matter.

jediwarrior -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (15/1/2007 9:03:23 AM)

I think the series lasted the whole 12 episodes. So I will give it a watch and see what it is like

councilskivvy -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (16/1/2007 11:57:06 AM)

The deleted alternative ending for Trinity had the Nightstalkers taking on a Vampire-Werewolf hybrid in a Casino, But Goyer ditched that idea for the fears of it being to unbelieveable!!!  Now I feel they should of ended the series with a Nightstalkers Movie, where they had to hunt Blade, whom had fianlly succumbed to the thirst as he appeared to do in the extended DVD version of Trinity!  Saw the first episode, Mmmmmmmm passable easy to see why it was axed, Nobody really stands out, but Jones puts in a better performance than Snipes did in the last film!

Grunny -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (16/1/2007 3:07:19 PM)

I turned it off after the opening, that was bad!

Wedge -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (16/1/2007 3:12:30 PM)

Blade had a lot going for it but they pissed on that fire with two sequels and a tv seires that were increasingly more about style and spectacle over concept and content.  Shame

Peter Dragon -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (16/1/2007 3:14:41 PM)

ooooo-er.
He's no Wesley Snipes when it comes to the martial arts is he?
Some of the fight coreography was embarrasing wasn't it?
Plus Blade does NOT ride a (mid-life crisis) Harley. He a Ducati man in Blade 2.

councilskivvy -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (16/1/2007 4:30:51 PM)

Hey man Blade 2 was great! and Trinity has to be respected for one of greatest lines of all time: "Cock juggling thunder-cunt" alone! The thing that was truly awful was had the guy not tried act as Wesley Snipes acting as Blade, and done his own thing this could of been alot better! I hated the gobby weapons guy! Plus all the contradictions from the films to series!

councilskivvy -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (16/1/2007 4:45:05 PM)

Though I never liked the idea of Blade & co being able to cure vampirism! I couldn't believe that Hey who noticed that he was using the old method of injecting his serum! After the flashy inhaler thing he had for the last movie! quality! no continuity!

FrenchMachine -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (18/1/2007 4:29:12 PM)

What utter, utter shite. I literally could not believe how bad the first episode was. Thank God its been canned! For once, some studio execs made a good decision.

How can a brilliant concept fall so far, so quickly??? What the fuck happened in David Goyers mind? Arsehole.

Blade: Trinity should be totally disregarded and another movie made. Preferably with either Stephen Norrington or Guillermo Del Toro heavily involved again.

councilskivvy -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (19/1/2007 8:48:51 AM)

Well  Del Toro has commented in interviews he'd love to come back and do a fourth one!

jediwarrior -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (19/1/2007 10:03:18 AM)

Well I turned it off after 30 mins. It was awful. The bloke he played Blade I could not understand what he was seeing as he was talking so deep. The acting by other characters was awful.

Thank god this got the axe

councilskivvy -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (24/1/2007 9:29:52 AM)

I never thought it possible, but the show gets worse by every episode!

That is utter crap! Blade the series gets better and better with every episode and those who have bothered to watch it all the way through know that it turned into a cracking little series.

I think those on this thread who gave up in one episode or less( or even a few eps) made a massive mistake. For starters the first episode was only half of the pilot movie and as such were setting up plot lines and character development for the entire series. Also you benefit more from watching both parts back-to- back.

Of course it wasn't an action-packed spectacle like you would expect from Blade I & II... It's a TV show and can't afford to spend several weeks choreographing and filming one fight sequence. Still with every episode the action gets better and better as the cast and crew get used to making the show .

Sure Kirk "sticky" Jones had a few problems during the pilot movie badly imitating Wesley Snipes, growling and all. However as the show went on he made the role his own and filled Wesley Snipes massive shoes well.

Blade the series' biggest strength in this series was the quality of writing and storytelling. As the show went on the stories threaded together into one big interwoven story and made for gripping TV.

Wedge, I suggest you watch the *entire* series and I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised that this series was not about style and spectacle.

Hey who noticed councilskivvy didn't pay enough attention to realise that this was explained that Shen did not know how to make the inhalers and they couldn't get in touch with anyone who could.

darth silas -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (6/10/2007 12:06:41 AM)

I agree with Torres9.Blade:the series got very good very quickly.Kirk jones grew into the role after a few episodes,Jill wagner was brilliant and sexy and Marcus van sciver was a terrific bad guy.

Its a shame it was written off by those who didnt give it a chance.

chrisrus -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (7/10/2007 10:38:50 AM)

when does it start on virgin 1

Scruffybobby -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (26/5/2008 11:20:12 PM)

Have been watching this on DVD (with extra gory bits and nudity) and whilst it's not brilliant it's quite enjoyable. Kirk Jones isn't the best actor in the world but he does the scowly growly thing just fine. Jill Wagner is decent enough in her role as a conflicted "newborn" and Jessica Gower is pretty sexy. Neil Jackson is a bit bland for the main villain though.

I do like "vampire clans as mafia families" idea theres a lot that they could have done with that and the continuing arc has thus far (up to episode 8) held my interest. It is all pretty derivative though (how many times have we seen the "all powerful vamp in a child's body" routine?) Pitry it was cancelled, could have developed quite nicely.

HIGHLANDER -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (28/5/2008 1:54:32 PM)

I recently won the complete series on DVD from Empire. I haven't had the chance to watch it yet but is it any good?

hammerhead -> RE: Blade - The TV Series (1/6/2008 12:45:44 AM)

As a fan of the show based on the TV version I have to admit I'm even more impressed with the DVD version. More blood and gore, more nudity and plenty of swearing... Also being an 18 it has more in common with the movies. It's well worth renting the series on DVD although still be patient letting the story unravel

Highlander: yes it is definitely worth watching but remember this is a TV series so it can't compare to the action of the movies. Find currently on the last DVD of the series and I'm surprised, pleasantly I should say, have they have taken a TV series and re-edited with alternate sequences adding more adult content. They obviously filmed it with the DVD in mind during a more true Blade the series.

By the way * moderators * the link for Blade the series links to Blackadder!
