The Romans called him: Mars Not to be confused with: The planet, the zodiac sign, the chocolate bar Rank: God of War, bloodlust and slaughter; belligerent bastard Played by: Ray Winstone (Percy); Tamer Hassan (Clash)
Sharing war duties with Athena (she handled the strategic side of war; he handled the going berserk bit), Mars was something of a nutter. In the Trojan War, for example, he had no fixed allegiance, instead turning up wherever there was scope for maximum carnage. He was also prone to dallying with goddess of love Aphrodite, despite the fact that she was married to Hephaestus (aka Vulcan), forger of the Gods. When Apollo snitched on the pair, Hephaestus caught them in flagrante in a net and held them up to the ridicule of the other gods. Expect him to be bullish, violent, untrustworthy and none-too-bright in both films.
