Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street (2007)
Once again Burton recruited Depp for this horror musical, alongside the director's partner and by-now regular co-star Helena Bonham Carter. The grimy, grey streets of Victorian London were straight from a Dickens novel, but Dickens never splattered the blood so liberally, which was bright orange and required the set, cast and crew to be dressed in protective bin-liners: "Everything is so internal with Sweeney that [the blood] is like his emotional release. It's more about catharsis than it is a literal thing." The result was a none-more-Gothic and surprisingly melodious take on the barber-ous neck-slicer.
