What Ever Happened To The Original Trek Crew?
As JJ Abrams' Star Trek approaches, we look back at the originals

As the world prepares itself for the sheer awesomeness that is JJ Abrams' Star Trek reboot, let's pause for a moment and remember days of yore, when Captains used to pull whatever multi-coloured women they met and the engines couldnae take much more. Read on to find out what happened to the original cast, which of them managed to escape Trek-typecasting, and which of them have actually headed into space...

What Ever Happened To The Original Trek Crew?
Captain James T Kirk
William Shatner
Appeared in the films / later TV shows? Yes, in films I-VII (whereupon he was killed off gloriously, but helped save civilisation in the process) and the Animated series.

What came next? Shatner's written a series of sci-fi novels called Tek Wars, which inspired a computer game, and produced a second solo album (his first is the awesome Transformed Man, which includes this ditty) called Has Been that became a ballet. But he's best known for his essential performance as Denny Crane in, first, The Practice and then five seasons of Boston Legal.

What now? He's currently hosting William Shatner's Raw Nerve, a celebrity interview series, and producing videoblogs online for The Shatner Project.
