Cinema Can Be Hazardous To Your Health!
Controversy Hurts
Some movies are just destined to hit trouble from the moment they're announced. The Passion Of The Christ? The Da Vinci Code? But most of the time these films just see groups turning up with signs reading "Careful Now" and "Down With This Sort Of Thing". And then there's the 2009 re-release of Claude Lanzmann's 1973 film Why Israel? in Germany.

Those attempting to see the film, which consists of interviews with Israelis about their lives, were beaten up, spat on and called names by members of the far-left anti-Israel Internationalen Zentrum B5 group.

We prefer the story of Kevin Smith turning up to a Catholic League demonstration against his film Dogma back in 1999 and calmly taking his place among the chanting religious types (who didn't recognise him) to add his own damnation of the movie.

This is surely an easy one to avoid. If a film has sparked some anger among a religious or political group, you might want to opt for the safe option and chuck it on your "To Rent" list.
