Watchmen begins with the murder of this unpleasant sort who worked as a superhero, but had his villainous side and has secret ties to certain members of the Crimebusters crew. When Rorschach discovers the death of The Comedian, he believes that he has uncovered a plot to bump off the superhero community and begins to investigate it himself. Despite his name, he's not very amusing.
