I've always had a soft spot for Bob the Goon from TB's Batman. He's the Jokers right-hand man who loyally does his duty for the clown prince of crime. The Joker wants a gun? He gives him a gun, without a second thought. Only to be immediately shot with it afterwards. Good times. ... Read More

Al Leong
And how could you fail to mention that he was a regular henchman on the A-Team, although being the A-Team he never did get killed, which explains how he could crop up in what seemed like every episode. Plus his awesome lead henchman spot in the fantastic Brandon Lee vehicle, Rapid Fire. Those scissors!! Good call from toobitterforyou about his role in Bill and Ted...... ... Read More

RE:
L: raclements See, I thought I had it sussed- I knew who number 1 was- especially when I got to 2 and still hadn't seen him... but he ain't even in the top TEN!?! Who? Darth Vader! I think Darth Vader was left out because he wasn't really a henchman in the first two movies. It was only after the Emperor was introduced that he became a henchman, and by then he'd done almost all of his evil deeds.   EDIT: Spelling Mistake ... Read More

Simon Crook explains his choices...

Dumb. Poor life expectancy. Often cursed with crap facial hair. Pity the lot of the movie henchman, the hard-grafting, fight-doing, all-business coal-miner of the action genre. Predestined to meet an often elaborate novelty death from the moment they appear, the unsung hench may look like movielands most disposable species, but, in fact, the big lugs are indispensable.

As long as theres been a villain, theres been a faithful hench on his lead, from the musclebound lunk who brawls with Indy in Raiders Of The Lost Arks plane-fight to speccy egghead Clarence Boddicker in RoboCop. Chances are you saw the header and instantly thought of some exotic Bond meathead Jaws, Necros or Tee Hee, perhaps, or, if youre really weird, Grace Jones but really, its a case of different look, same old schtick. Black-hat cowboy, Mafia heavy, mad scientist Igor, polyester-haired 70s tough... All hench.

As the rules go, any sidekick to the villain means a side-dish for the hero, but to make the grade our selection didnt just have to turn up, look mean and die a ridiculous death although, to be honest, it helped.
