The Blues Brothers
Sweet Home Chicago
Any segment of this eight and a half minute mini-masterpiece would still make it onto this list. As one huge setpiece, it's genius: a pile up of police cars, featuring a key vehicle crashing into the back of a moving truck. Every police vehicle (including horses and boats) joining the chase. Another police car pile-up. An homage to The French Connection. Another police car pile-up. The Illinois Nazis plummeting to their demise. Cruising by the Richard J Daley centre to check out a Picasso. Arriving at the tax office, whereupon the Blues Mobile finally dies a somewhat undignified death. It's cartoon action so good the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote have only rarely bettered it.
