mebody else who knows of this film! I actually bought the book and the dvd recently to indulge in my childhood nostalgia since I haven't seen it in nbsp; up watching it after getting home from my birthday night out!
And funnily enough just recently I downloaded both The Last Unicorn and Man's Road by America, to remember what they were like. I'd have to say Man's Road is preferable to the titular song. only ended up watching it for the first time last year(imported the R1 DVD) after being recommended it by a poster on IMDb's Animation board. I loved it.
Yeah, I agree actually - Man's Road is better, as the arrangement has that weary, long journey feel to it. In other words, the lyrics and arrangement go together really well. It hasn't dated as well, too.
Another one I like from the TLU soundtrack is In The Sea, although I don't reckon it's as good as Man's Road, it just refuses to leave my head :D
I also think the main Flight of Dragons song is brRead More

sure about most of them: Where is The Last Unicorn? Disney's Robin Hood Not in Nottingham, the opening track on The Lion King the Circle of Life, American Tail's Somewhere Out There or even There Are No Cats in America... emember Love from Robin Hood? Beautiful, short song.
Oh yeah, I was thought about Somewhere Out There. I prefer the now purfunctory end credits version more. Not my fave out of the non Disney/Pixar songs, but a good ballad, nontheless, IMO.

| Posted on Saturday May 2, 2009, 12:16 by Hillsman |
Stuck up its own Arse that is. As true fans of film, we know where the best cartoon songs are to be found. Yes, dozens of hilarious classics from The Simpsons and Family guy have been overlooked, but if we're going to focus on animated film, then the absence of Aladdin and The Lion King is unforgiveable.
Heigh Ho deserves to be there because it is iconic.....though Bare Necessities should've been No. 1. I always agree with the inclusion of Halloween - great songs in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Read More

OK, to begin with, when you start explaining your choice for The Bare Necessities, right off the bat you say...
'The loosest, breeziest, most fun cartoon song ever...',
Now that seems to me, from your choice of words, that it should be your number one choice and not number two.
Anyway...no mention at all of anything from Aladdin, lion king, hell not even monsters inc. It stinks of snobbery and to be honest, i just think you are picking these weird films that nobody has seen just so you can get a head up over everyone. I mean how can you include that weird princess monohawk and not put in anything from THe Lion King???????? jesus! wow...you have got me so worked over such a stupid thing. Get it sorted though! You've completely missed the Disney film with one of the best soundtracks, which has at least 3 brilliant songs ('Poor, Unfortunate Souls', 'Kiss De Girl' and 'Part of Your World' (I don't actually rate 'Under the Sea' but others below obviously do) plus the Theme from An American Tail. I also agree with the lack of inclusion of Dumbo songs 'When I see an Elephant Fly' and 'Pink Elephants on Parade'. Most importantly you have not mentioned the whole soundtrack from Robin Hood - its so good even McDonalds corrupted it for an advert! Kudos for mentioning To-To-Ro though Read More

| 35 | RE: Too many good songs - how about a top 100 or perhaps 1000 |
| Posted on Tuesday April 28, 2009, 11:42 by Shakespeare Girl |
I think given the hillarious tiny amount (top 10) for choosing favourite songs will always lead to serious omissions. There's simply too many fantastic songs that will get left out and many songs that aren't that known in the rest of the world (Last unicorn - horribly unknown where I'm from and that's too bad 'coz it's a great work of art). So I'll agree that Snow white isn't the best pick for number one, but nice try and some good choices over all. Read More

I rather like the list and its variety until I saw the number 1 choice. Yes yes it's very catchy and gets stuck in your head but not in a very good way. Suitable for children or miners or prison inmates mining but not the greatest cartoon song of all time.
I think that there should be another feature: greatest movie songs of all time where the empire readers vote. Not just from cartoons but from any movie. Hard list but at least classics like the genie's "friend like me" and the lion king tunes could make the list. It would also be interesting to see what live action songs make the list. I'm sure "Somewhere over the rainbow" would make it as a default but what about all the quirkier choices?
think about it empire; it could be fun. Read More
