| | 5 | Could have easily been a top 20 | | Posted on Friday December 11, 2009, 10:27 by KeeBrit | There's a bunch of others (many of which involve diarrhea or misinterpreted cubicle talk) but I was definitely expecting Pulp Fiction to be on there somewhere. Hell, half of the action revolves around Vince Vega always going to the bathroom at the wrong time. Read More

| | 6 | | | Posted on Thursday December 10, 2009, 01:19 by malaga | Personal favourite is actually from Leverage, the TV show. These scenes may be more iconic, but watching Christian Kane as Eliot Spencer beating up a hitman in an aeroplane toilet then having Beth Riesgraf as Parker tell another flight attendant that no one can go in because it stinks? Most hilarious moment in an otherwise fairly mediocre episode. Read More

| | 15 | Lolita | | Posted on Friday December 4, 2009, 04:50 by The Whisper | Made 18 years before The Shining, nothing can match Kubrick's underrated adaptation of the Nabokov classic for slippery bathtub bathos. Bob Harris' Lolita theme lilts playfully as James Mason's Humbert Humbert in the foreground sips celebratory martinis in the suds. Charlotte, Lolita's mother, has, in the previous scene, been killed crossing the road. Humbert pulls the shower curtain over as the neighbours Jean and John Harlow enter, coyly offering commiserations and then the driver's father joins the bevy of bathroom visitors and offers politely to pay the funeral expenses - an offer Humbert takes up with ungracious alacrity. The neighbours, spotting the pistol Humbert was going to kill Charlotte with, assume he is planning to plug a hole in himself and Humbert can barely contain his mirth as Jean pleads with him: 'Try to think of your poor little Lolita, all alone in the world. You must live for her sake.'

| | 17 | No Pulp Fiction?? | | Posted on Wednesday December 2, 2009, 15:11 by campkev | How can you possibly miss Pulp Fiction. You could practically make a Top Ten list of scenes from that movie alone. Vince talking to himself in the mirror while Mia overdoses, Vince and Jules arguing about washing hands in the bathroom, the diner robbery happens while Vince is in the bathroom, Vince gets killed by Butch in the bathroom, and the Butch/Fabienne shower and brushing teeth scene. Plus I'm probably missing a couple Read More

| | 18 | Um how can you miss this?? | | Posted on Wednesday December 2, 2009, 14:01 by Bishi | I'm sorry but if i think of a bathroom scene in a movie i automatically remember 'I spit on your grave' and the removal of the guy's 'member' whilst she plays with him in the bath.
Kinda hard not to remember that scene tbh, i love how calm she was when leaving the bathroom to sit in a chair read the paper whilst hearing him scream and bleed to death Read More

Simon Crook explains his choices...
It's one of those only-in-the-movies things your mum brings up during a dead exciting bit in, say, GoldenEye. "How come," she'll say, "you never see James Bond going to the loo...?" Which is all very logical, but since when were movies logical? Fact is, unless a ninja's waiting to spring out of the bog brush, there's no dramatic value whatsoever in watching 007 go for a 002. Worse still, whenever anybody in movieland does take a bath or body dribble, odds on your private function will end in an echoey deathscream of lavatorial doom.
The bathroom's actually a fairly modern screen fixture, mostly for reasons of good, old-fashioned taste. The movie bog's big bang (um, try not to visualise that) really hit in 1960, with Psycho's proper shocking sight of... a toilet flushing. As for Psycho's Other Scene, Hitchcock's genius was in knowing how to tap subconscious fears, and in that motel cubicle he found the perfect place to exploit some primal vulnerabilities: you're naked, you're trapped - where would you least like to be attacked? The voyeuristic violence and restroom humiliations have followed its lead ever since: small room, big pain.
Those busting for the list but got caught short: The Shining (melty granny bathtime); Nikita (melty acid bathtime); Dogma (poo demon); Dreamcatcher (poo weasel); and ace Scorsese short, The Big Shave... Be upstanding, then (or, er, sit down) for our favourite discomfort breaks...
