The 2009 Superbowl Spots Reviewed And Rated
For those of us who don't have any clue what a wide receiver is, or just why those big tough men are trying to score in each other's endzones, the Superbowl is a very special event for one other reason: it has become, traditionally, the place where movie studios debut trailers and first looks at their hot summer fare.

And this year saw a more impressive slate than usual, with the likes of Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, Star Trek, and G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra all on display, alongside smaller fare like Angels & Demons, The Year One and Fast & Furious. So, we thought we'd review and rate them. Because, frankly, we're nice people. And we're snowed in and have nothing better to do.

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen
Brief, but stunning, teaser for Michael Bay's mega-sequel, which by itself looks like it cost more than the original.
Best Bit: Our first glimpse of Devastator as he chases after Optimus Prime. He's mahoosive.
Worst Bit: Nothing, really. We're not entirely happy about the bit where Shia's father - Kevin Dunn - looks to be injured or at least in danger. Comic relief should stay comic relief.

Empire Rating: Empire Star Rating

Actually.......
I was really keeping my fingers crossed that Stephen Sommers would buck his usual trend with GI Joe (Action Force), it's one of my favourite comic books from when I was a kid, and the casting is spot on - they have totally nailed Snake Eyes. BUT, here comes Stephen 'as much dodgy cgi as possible' Sommers and suprise suprise, the film looks like a poor playstation game. He can't leave that stuff alone can he? It seems all my fears are going to be realised in the summer.... ... Read More

This summer is going to be mainly a safe one
No real stand outs like The Dark Knight and Iron Man this year. GI Joe looks as crap as it's always has done now the teaser's out. Even when we saw just countless production and costume photos it never looked right. A great teaser for Transformers 2 but its seems like any other Michael Bay movie - loud noises, fast cutting, big things getting destroyed. Like the original I think I'm going to be bored with a headache afterwards. Great teaser though. Angels & Demons seems to carry on wi... Read More

Not the fallen...
I agree that it is more likely to be part or all of Devastator and not the fallen: the big Constructicon wheel gives it away. Also would say that the face shape looks different from that on the poster, from what I can make out when paused. In addition, that looks like Starscream pinning Sam down and not Megatron, as mentioned in the article relating to this teaser. On another note, best line: "Don't go in the pimped out fridge, jack..." ... Read More
