After what seems like eons of waiting and wading through rumours, speculation, wish lists, open casting calls and more, we finally have a confirmed list of people who will be headed to that galaxy far, far away for J. J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII. You likely already know who Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew are (Luke, Han, Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Chewbacca respectively), but what of the new arrivals? Here’s our guide...

JOHN BOYEGA

John Boyega

Age: 22

Who he? Boyega burst on to the screen with Joe Cornish’s 2011 sci-fi pic Attack The Block (above), in which he played Moses, the street-smart, often misunderstood tower block thug who fought off an alien invasion with his friends. It's clear, then, that he has previous experience with space creatures. Since then, he’s been approached for a variety of projects, including an unsuccessful HBO pilot, and cinematic dramas Junkhearts and Half Of A Yellow Sun. His casting in Star Wars has been rumoured for some time, and he’s been linked with several other high-profile films.

Where can I see him next? He’s part of the cast for Jack Bauer’s return to our screens in 24: Live Another Day, which arrives on both US (Fox) and UK (Sky 1) TV screens on May 6. He’ll also be a reformed gangster in Imperial Dreams, which has yet to secure a UK release.

How many more miles are they really hoping to get from Star Wars? Talk about flogging a dead horse. I really can't get excited about this and am struggling to see how anybody else can. I thought the last three films (from the guy who came up with the whole saga!) were three of the most over-anticipated dissapointing films of my generation, how anybody thinks that these will be any different is beyond me. There's nowhere else for this story to go Hollywood, let it die already. More

I kinda get the point in casting a lot of no-namers so that we don't have any preheld misconceptions about their abilities... but really none of the announced cast, even the original players, makes me excited about episode 7 in the slightest. If anything, a lot of their casting choices put me off. John Boyega for instance was one of the worst parts of the already terrible Attack the Block. This movies is going to be more poorly received then the announcement that Ja Ja Bink great grandkid is going to the star jedi. More

"...and Rutger Hauer." As it's all speculation regarding this cast, I couldn't help but be sidetracked by that one bit. n I first read the cast list, I thought I didn't know anyone on there (aside from the original cast, natch), but now it turns out that I just didn't know the names that went with the faces. Only one new female actress, though? Again? More
