| 1 | The word from Judge Dredd - *** SPOILER??? *** |
I am not going to repeat exactly what I've found out, but Karl Urban apparently dropped into conversation with another film magazine (cough cough) who Cumberbatch is playing. Sounds like he assumed the identity was already known or otherwise a slip of the tongue.
I'm sure it would be easy to find out through Google or Wikipedia-type search...
Wouldn't put it past JJ Abrams though for this to be a well-planned red herring.

Garth of Izar for Cumberbatch's character. He's a former Starfleet officer who went mad and was put away in a space asylum who faced off with Shatner!Kirk in a TOS episode and almost made off with the Enterprise to boot. Using him It would homage how Wrath of Khan followed up on a TOS episode by having the fallout of stranding Khan and his followers on Ceti Alpha V but use a different genius to match wits with Kirk & co. Alice Eve will most likely be playing that role (They look very similar) if Gary Mitchell is the bad guy More

Well, I think we can discount this being "Revenge of the Tribbles".
Also looking unlikely to me that Sherlock/Smaug is playing KHAAAAA-AAAAAAN.

Looks great, no doubt lots of misdirection from JJ so I expect none of my initial thoughts to be anywhere near correct. More

From the angel of Kirks arm it looks to me like he may be on the ground reaching up. This could be roll reversal from Star Trek II. It would also sit well with the 'sliding doors' sense of timelines continued on from the last Star Trek movie. More

Hate to burst Mr Hewitt's bubble but that doesn't seem to be the Fox Building (AKA Nakatomi). other than being a lot more slender its not got the big wedges jutting out of the sides. Just a minor gripe... More

So there's Cumberbatch as a starfleet guy who's controlling ships and have them crashing in to the cities. More Joker/Silva-shit coming this time to this franchise. More

The guy at the back is almost certainly Spock - blue uniform, Vulcan hand sign. The foreground hand is probably Cumberbatch's, because Kirk seems to be either wearing his gold uniform or a grey dress uniform. The fabric seems to match the Starfleet uniform Cumberbatch is wearing on slide 4. I doubt if he's Khan as the events of Space Seed hasn't happened in this timeline. I reckon he is related to Spock, or maybe even Nero. The whole business about family and his ears appear slightly pointy. As for Alice Eve, I reckon she's playing nurse Chapel - blue uniform. More

Bit pedantic, but. If it can survive the cold, vast vacuum of space i imagine it can take a bit of a dunking. More

I'd bet a months money that the 'hands' shot is Spocks hand on the outside with Cumberbatch's (Gary Mitchell's) hand closer the camera. More

Maybe, but if you look at the blue-uniformed hand it does appear to be in a Vulcan sign position.... More

How do we know that that is Spock's hand? It could be Cumberbatch's Gary Mitchell being separated from Kirk and exposed to the galactic barrier? More

I'm guessing that final shot is a bit of a bluff. JJ's just being a bit playful and what we're seeing is not at all what we think. Then again... More
