His Start In The Movie Business

It may be the stuff of cinematic folklore, but Spielberg's entry into the world of mainstream moviemaking is still a wonderful story nonetheless. In the summer of 1965, a seventeen-year old Spielberg took a bus tour of the Universal lot. During a break in the proceedings, he managed to sneak off and saunter around the sound stages watching and learning as he went along, undisturbed by the studio's security. With a newfound confidence, he returned the next day - this time wearing a business suit and carrying his dad's briefcase. Again the guards paid no attention and eventually the ambitious young filmmaker managed to stumble upon a vacant office space…and the rest, as they say, is history.
