His Relationship With John Williams

For every truly iconic Spielberg moment, there is a John Williams score. Where would Jaws be without the menacing two note ostenato? Or Raiders Of The Lost Ark without Indy's March? What about E.T's flight over the moon without those stirring strings or the grand majesty of Jurassic Park without those heraldic orchestrations? None of these movies would have their heightened emotional resonance without John William's guiding, musical direction. From Sugarland Express to Munich, Spielberg's best films have always been accompanied by William's most dynamic and memorable compositions. In short, it is the most successful pairing of director and composer in cinema history and in Spielberg's own words, his only "perfect association".
