His Love Of Animation

Raised on a childhood diet of Disney and Chuck Jones, animation runs in Steven Spielberg's blood. This passion for animation manifests itself in direct quotation - The Sugarland Express' doomed lovers watching Road Runner or Roy Neary waking up to Duck Dodgers In The 24 1/2 Century in Close Encounters - but also in subtler ways; the truck chase in Duel is Road Runner vs Wile E. Coyote writ live action wheareas Devil's Tower set-piece in Close Encounters is a special effects replay of Close Encounters. But more pertinently is Spielberg's sponsorship of "proper animation" from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? to the genius of Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures, a real descendant of the genius of Looney Toons.
