His Amusing Stories

Oops. Spielberg breaks a battle droid on the set of Phantom Menace.
It’s not only his movies that are littered with comic inferences. Spielberg himself has been involved in some fairly wacky situations throughout his career. Who can forget the footage of Spielberg attempting to re-attach the broken Battle Droid arm on the set of The Phantom Menace? Or George Lucas visiting his old chum on the set of Jaws, only for John Milius, Hal Barwood, Mathew Robbins and Spielberg, to mischeviously leave him floudering in the mouth of the shark after the mechanics failed to re-open it’s jaws? Then there’s the story of Spielberg and Brian De Palma borrowing the studio’s first mobile phone, calling up women while standing outside their front door and then ringing the doorbell. All these chuckle-worthy incidents have become part of movie mythos, and show that Spielberg isn’t past engaging in a few practical jokes.
