His Relationship With George Lucas

Steven Spielberg first met George Lucas at a film festival in 1967. After watching Lucas' student short THX-1138: 4EB (Electronic Labyrinth), Spielberg became "jealous to the marrow of my bones" but the pair struck up an enduring friendship that has resonated around the movie world since. While the pair have created a legend with Indiana Jones - the building of that sandcastle in Hawaii is the stuff of movie lore - their creative partnership has enriched cinema in so many ways, be it Lucas' supervising of Jurassic Park's effects while Spielberg made Schindler's or Spielberg envisaging action sequences on Revenge Of The Sith. Built on a love of movies, a similar worldview and a respect for the audience, the Lucas-Spielberg relationship remains the most enduring friendship of Spielberg's life, a rarity for the fickle friendships of Hollywood.
