Profession Intergalactic adventuress / Sex kitten from space
Played by Jane Fonda
In Barbarella (1968)
How many cosplay fetishists, we wonder, were forged on the anvil of Barbarella? Nominally a film about a space agent saving the Earth from a secret weapon, it's famously mostly about Jane Fonda wearing clothes – or often not wearing them, as circumstances dictate. Outfits include a revealingly distressed bodystocking, mini white vinyl tunic and thighboots, clear plastic boob tube, and a peculiar furry skunk affair, all pulled off (if you'll pardon the expression) with pneumatic enthusiasm by Fonda, who turned down Rosemary's Baby and Bonnie & Clyde for the privilege. A time capsule back to the swinging 60s, there's a lot of free love in Barbarella: she learns along her journey that she likes it the old-fashioned way (without psycho-cardiogram readings or exultation transference pellets), and that Durand Durnad's "Excessive Machine" (sometimes erroneously referred to as The Orgasmatron, for obvious reasons) is simply no match for her. In a word, Cor!
Moment of hotness Could it be anything other than the famous opening-credits, zero-gravity strip-tease?
Ideal chat up line "Baby, you haven't met the Excessive Machine till you've met me!"
Any drawbacks? We might infer from her defeat of the Excessive Machine that she's a challenge to fully "satisfy"...

Whaaaaaat!!!!! Elizabeth Swan is one of the most underwhelming characters of that whole saga, not helped by a completely wooden peformance from Knightley herself. Give Gilda her rightful place in the top ten. Read More

You forgot to hook up the doll Firstly bravo Dirtyfunkymonkey, it's not just geeky it's cliched and outside of being a bit of fun, a real insult to women, Jessica Rabbit no2? and Lara Croft no1 there are clearly much more stronger and more seductive female characters in the filmiverse. Surely if your going to compile a list of masturbatory icons, why not include the Alpha Omega of them all, the hypothetical woman made felsh; Lisa from 'Weird Science' as played by Kelly LeBrock. GEEKY!! Jesus, how geeky was all that! Was this list compiled by a bunch of spotty teens or some guys who spend far too long w*nking over so called Sci-Fi babes whilst wondering what it would feel like to shag an alien... Come on guys, seriously. Where are the women. Kathleen Turner in Body Heat or Linda Fiorentino in The Last Seduction for example. Bo Derek in 10 perhaps?? But no. We get fucking Star Wars characters and blue aliens... Read More
