All modern cinematic heroines claim to be feisty, but few actually do more than wave a gun around and then get kidnapped. Elizabeth Swan, to her credit, manages to rise about her damsel in distress roots and become every bit as manipulative, untrustworthy and ruthless as the pirates who surround here – and you clearly love her for it. That, or it's her tendency to wear corsets and end up sopping wet at regular intervals. What's more, she's no shy maiden of ye olden days: she sets her sights like lasers on Orlando Bloom's Will Turner and builds up a steam flirting with Jack Sparrow for good measure.
Moment of hotness Perhaps it's when she's corseted and dripping wet in the first film; or you may prefer her as a Pirate Queen in the third.
Ideal chat up line "Shiver me timbers, yo ho ho!"
Any drawbacks? As far as we know, she remains devoted to her drippy boyfriend. Who is, alas, now the all-powerful man in charge of ushering sailor's souls into the afterlife. So maybe beware, eh?

Whaaaaaat!!!!! Elizabeth Swan is one of the most underwhelming characters of that whole saga, not helped by a completely wooden peformance from Knightley herself. Give Gilda her rightful place in the top ten. Read More

You forgot to hook up the doll Firstly bravo Dirtyfunkymonkey, it's not just geeky it's cliched and outside of being a bit of fun, a real insult to women, Jessica Rabbit no2? and Lara Croft no1 there are clearly much more stronger and more seductive female characters in the filmiverse. Surely if your going to compile a list of masturbatory icons, why not include the Alpha Omega of them all, the hypothetical woman made felsh; Lisa from 'Weird Science' as played by Kelly LeBrock. Was this list compiled by a bunch of spotty teens or some guys who spend far too long w*nking over so called Sci-Fi babes whilst wondering what it would feel like to shag an alien... Come on guys, seriously. Where are the women. Kathleen Turner in Body Heat or Linda Fiorentino in The Last Seduction for example. Bo Derek in 10 perhaps?? But no. We get fucking Star Wars characters and blue aliens... Read More
