Hammond has been with the show since 1995, making him the longest-running SNL cast member of all time. Robert Downey Jr. only lasted one season, by contrast.
Best characters
An ace impressionist, Hammond is nevertheless underused by the show these days, and often seems disinterested when he does appear, listlessly reading off cue cards and failing to engage with his fellow performers (would it kill him to look at them once in a while?). But we digress: when he’s on his game, he’s one of the best voice guys around. His Sean Connery battled with Will Ferrell on Celebrity Jeopardy!, his Bill Clinton is one for the ages, as is his conniving Dick Cheney.
Where you’ve seen him
In the likes of Blues Brothers 2000, Scary Movie 3 and, God help us all, Epic Movie, where he actually did a pretty decent Johnny Depp impression as… oh, Lord, Captain Jack Swallows. That’s about as good as the humour got.

Hammond seems content to be the Current Darrell Hammond, rather than the Next Anybody, as he guns for 20 consecutive seasons on the show.
