Along with fellow Lonely Island comedy troupe members Akiva Schaeffer and Jorma Taccone, Samberg joined SNL in September 2005 as a writer and performer. His SNL Digital Shorts, including Dick In A Box and The Chronicles Of Narnia rap, helped revitalise the show.
Best characters
Specialises in arrogant idiots who are unaware of their idiocy. In an unrelated sentence, he made a huge impact last year with his spot-on Mark Wahlberg impression in the off-the-wall sketch, Mark Wahlberg Talks To Animals.
Where you’ve seen him
As Paul Rudd’s gay brother in I Love You, Man, but most strikingly as the lead in the underrated 2007 comedy, Hot Rod. Cool beans.
Coming up?
Providing a voice for 3D cartoon, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. Otherwise, Hot Rod seems to have been a bit of a setback as far as his movie career goes. Shame.

Will Ferrell. Hot Rod could have been called Son Of Burgundy – the OTT bluster, the child-like refusal to accept anything that doesn’t fit into his narrow worldview, the penchant for surreal, leftfield humour… it’s all there.
