Space Age Side-Kicks Icarus 2 Sunshine
The Icarus 2's onboard computer has to keep the ship's solar mission on track, protect the astronauts from the zillion degree rays of the sun, manage the limited oxygen supply and keep the seriously stressy crew focused on the task in hand which, in fairness, comprises long hours, limited leave, and being incinerated by the sun. It's a tough job. There's tough calls to be made too, albeit dished out in gentle lady computer tones, as one crew member after another meets a grizzly end trying to see the mission out. Like HAL before it, this is one machine that refuses to deviate from the mission, but unlike 2001's meglo-computer this is one hard drive that's wired right.
