Space Age Side-Kicks Gerty Moon
Moon miner Sam Bell's only lunar companion is Gerty, a HAL-like computer voiced Kevin Spacey. It's not an ideal scenario for Bell because if there's one thing worse than being stuck on the moon bored and lonely, it's been stuck on the moon bored and lonely with Keyser Söze. In fairness though, Gerty is programmed to take care of Sam and nags him to eat regularly and not go outside when he's feeling poorly. A bit like a mum really, if mums were made of microchips. Unlike HAL's malign scarlet scanner, Gerty has a emoticon that enables him to span the whole gamut of emotion from happy to, er, a bit less happy. Well, at least he's trying.
