Just expressing some mild outrage at the exclusion of Death Proof, the most outright entertaining film of the year. Other than that (and the omission of Eastern Promises), this is a solid list. ... Read More

A long comment i'm afraid broken in to 2 Films of the year: Zodiac for me, Bourne i'd put 2. Where the fuck is blood diamond (it was released this year) and superbad should be higher up. Atonement was good but not that good really this is sucking up as is the paul greengrass thing - never the less i was glad to see a nice range of films in it (especially Michael Clayton after an ok review) Top 5's: all good accept... the good things in bad films one ... Read More

Atonement at number 3? What the? The cinematography was nice but the film as a whole wasn't one of the best of the year surely? 'Worthy of inclusion in the list for that bravura tracking shot of Dunkirk alone' Hmmm. ... Read More

L: Lightfoot calypto drunken crazy-bearded anti-semite he might or might not be now, but Gibson seems about the only director still out there who can tell a good yarn simply and thrillingly. Neither really original nor innovative, despite being filming in Mayan, it was however a cracking good jungle pursuit that featured some great set pieces. Highly entertaining without being an insult to the grey matter. sp; alyptos one of the first films I saw this year and I just remember feel... Read More

Hmm nt a bad list. Gd 2 c Michael Clayton in ther (a v understated, unshowy gd film), the fountain (a clever and ambitious film recievin the praise it deserves), This is England (brilliant), Control (another british gem), Knocked Up and Superbad (Fantastic comedies), Hot Fuzz (always makes me smile), Zodiac (1 of the best of the yr), the lives of others (can c y it won best pic) Bt Sunshine should hav been higher. A brave film that i jst loved. Re-watched it today and i think ev... Read More

Some thoughts ...../align]2007 was a year of (mostly) disappointing threequels and fourqels, but it was also a film fan's wet dream. There were some really, truly good films this year: both independent and studio; large-scale and intimate; some trippy stuff for the chinstrokers, and some solid, entertaining star-fuelled blockbusters. The best year we've had since about 2002 or so. Anyway, here's my top ten for the year in reply, with obligatory turkey award. calypto drunken crazy-bearded... Read More

i don't understand why people are asking "why hasn't this film been put on the list" or slagging off empire or asking them to look back at their reviews. you cant ask why a film hasnt been placed. its a simple vote amoung the office staff. i think its best to just say what you would have liked to have seen.    people do this a lot at the bottom of the online reviews and it winds me up. its a persons opinion. being a film critic doesnt make you an oracle (sorry guys). jeez. anyways... Read More
