19 Great Revenge Movie Characters | James Bond (Timothy Dalton)
James Bond (Timothy Dalton)

Movie: Licence To Kill (1989)

What peeved him off? Evil drug bastard Franz Sanchez savages 007’s old CIA pal Felix Leiter and kills his new wife, Della, using sharks. Leiter eventually recovers – his leg grows back and he turns into Jeffrey Wright – but Bond is thirsty for payback on the narc baron.

Most intimidating quote: “You earned it. You keep it, Old Buddy!”

Timothy Dalton’s 007 takes his place in the man-theon of movie avengers in a Bond flick that was angrier than any we’d seen before – or since. Angrier than audiences could stomach, as it turned out, as Bond went around in a vendetta kinda mood, killing anyone and everyone he could lay his hands on to avenge the fate of Felix and his new bride.

Particular set of skills: Wielding explosive alarm clocks, abseiling down cummerbunds, feeding people to sharks.
Likelihood of violent death for perps? Guaranteed. He’s licensed to kill not “wound slightly”, buddy.

1 You forgot -
perhaps the best revenge movie ever - High Plains Drifter with Clint Eastwood. I prefer Lee Marvin in Point Blank to Mel Gibson in Payback but that may be generational. More

2 RE:
No, I'm not an idiot. Casino Royale is considered a reboot to the Bond franchise. The film focusses on Bond's FIRST mission as a double-0 agent and his FIRST interactions with Felix Leiter. Then again, if "Leiter eventually recovers – his leg grows back and he turns into Jeffrey Wright" was meant to be a joke, then it backfired as far as I'm concerned. More

3 wtf?
Harry Potter? What about Mad Max? Even Darth Vader gets revenge on the rebel alliance in Empire Strikes Back.,...not to mention Pam Grier in Foxy Brown......this article is rubbish...Harry Potter is for 8 year old's and fat unemployed people who still live with their Mum's.....Fuck this magazine.. More

5 Possible Additions?
I'd agree that the count of monte cristo's omission suprised me. Thought maybe Desperado, Lucky Number Slevin and the Sting may have been included too... More

Count of Monte Cristo? Eric Draven? The dragon from Enter the Dragon? Darkman? The cast of Sleepers? Pumpkin Head? The Punisher(Tom Jane)? That girl who spat on those Graves? I wish this list had gone to a 100. Also, is HornetPrime trolling with his post or is he genuinely an idiot? More

8 No Edmondo
Errrrm.....No Edmond Dantes aka the count of monte cristo? One of the most iconic revenge characters? More

10 Tut tut.
Obviously the person who wrote this wasn't paying attention. Casino Royale was a reboot, with a different Bond and a different Leiter. He's not supposed to be the same guy. More

11 Where's Mel!
Mel Gibson in Edge Of Darkness, also, Mel Gibson in Payback, also, Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon 2 and last but not least: Mel Gibson in Braveheart More

Posted by thewalrus299 on Saturday October 6, 2012, 09:46

12 erm...
I think what pissed Creasey (Man on Fire) off was the fact that he was suicidal when he took the job, looking after little Pita. She brought him back, gave him hope and a spark of new life. Then she was taken, and all of Mexico couldn't stand in his way. Worthy additions Grindhouse classics (+remakes) The Last House on the Left (did I leave something in the microwave?) and I Spit on Your Grave (crows + bath + garden shears). Also....Batman ???? More

13 Dead Man's Shoes - SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've just noticed someone else mention this below and it needs to be repeated! If you have never seen Dead Man's Shoes do NOT read the synopsis of it in this feature! Was a bit annoyed not to see Payback on here but you have got Point Blank which Payback was a re-make of so you are forgiven :) (PS. I spit on your grave is a great shout!) More
