Prometheus Trailer Breakdown
A shot-by-shot analysis of Ridley Scott's epic teaser trailer

Another Shot Of Prometheus

Another shot of Prometheus in flight. Love the design of this ship. Interestingly, if we accept that the events of the teaser are in chronological order, then this would indicate that Prometheus has completed its mission and is heading away from the planet. Job done? Well, it would seem to have some specimens to prod and poke...

21 OLD GUY REPLY
I think you may have just hit the nail on the head. I've done some screencaps for these on tumblr (check the Prometheus tag), it's so so interesting! More

22 Same but different
I have been comparing stills from the original 'Space Jockey' room in Alien with the brief shot in Prometheus. The overall look is pretty much the same Gigeresque style but there are subtle differences. In the original, the rib/bone like look to the walls is very apparent whilst in the new one it's more subtle. The 'chair' also has slight differences. So either Scott/Giger have redesigned it (which doesn't really make sense) or this is not the derelict from Alien. I'm more inclined to think the latter, which would tie in with Scott's comment that this isn't a prequel to Alien but rather a movie that has the Alien 'DNA'. I guess we'll find out next summer. 23 The planet's air isn't breathable as Fassbender is an android
Surely as Michael Fassbender is an android he wouldnt need to wear his helmet anyway to breathe so the planet or tunnels being breathable isn't true as every other cast member has their helmet on while on the surface. Correct me if I'm wrong... More

The main mistake of this breakdown is that it assumes the teaser is in chronological order. More

There's a hole and smoke pouring out the side of the ship, where at the end, the rolling donut does not have a hole. Either the explosion in the sky is later, or there might be more than one ship? More

Awesome breakdown; quite a brilliantly made and executed trailer. So much detail and unanswered questions per frame. More

30 OLD GUY
Looks like the old guy is the same guy who gets injured/infected by acid/smoke. So her suffers, turns bad, attacks the crew, grows to a large size and then becomes the jockey and ends up with a hole in his chest. More

31 Can't wait!
2012 is going to be a fantastic year for films with something for everyone; Expendables 2, Hobbit, TDKR, Prometheus, Avengers etc. More

Is the old guy in the suit/wheelchair Mr Weyland? Not seen Lance Henrikksen around for a while and you couldn't really make another Alien film without him.... could you? More

33 Spoilt
What a line up for 2012. Scott returns to sci-fi. Jackson returns to middle earth. Fincher returns to the serial killer thriller. Nolan returns to Gotham. Abrams begins another entry to the captains log. Ritchie returns to 221B Baker Street. More

Totally missed the person in the Space Jockey shot. Thanks for pointing it out. One question: Where is Guy Pearce in all of this? More
