This looks good so far, but I'm worried it will just turn out to be a over hyped average space thriller from a director way past his prime. One of the reasons why Alien is such a beautiful and twisted film, is that it never explains the world it's set in. The massive spooky derelict ship, with it's endless caverns of eggs, and the mysterious and creepy space jockey , were all so incredibly effective because they weren't explained, they were just there. The film looks to explain the derelict ship and space jockey, and I fear that it will take away the effectiveness of Alien. It will have to be a really great film if it enhances Alien rather than takes away from it. I also hope Ridley Scott doesn't have the film's threat constantly in your face. What made Alien so scary was that you rarely saw the Alien, only just glimpses of it, and that made it much more terrifying. More

A lot of people complain that trailers show spoilers...only if you have some idea what the film is about, for example we know Bane breaks Batman's back and we see Bruce Wayne with a walking stick and put two and two together, but we have no idea about what happens in this story and Ridley Scott is clever enough to show is things to get us thinking. It obvious that no-one gets off the planet alive, so I am assuming the first shots are actually the ending of the film and are of someone turning into the aliens we know and love, my money is on Noomi's character (as Fassbender's character isn't human) and something tells me he's not the only milky white blooded person there...
ou have sort of contradicted yourself there by claiming that trailers show spoilers but only if you know what the film is about...then go onto make a lot of presumptions about this film and reveal a rather potentially gr about a film that is completely unrelated to this movie???!!!

Though the trailer is superb and the film seems to be much more alien-related than uncle Rid previously admitted, I don't like the fact than the techs of this prequel are far more advanced than in Alien. I mean, control pannels, displays and so on, based on touch screems from the Prometheus do not match with the click-clak key pannels from Nostromo, and the same goes for the space suits. If Alien is cronologically after Prometheus, this techs should be more retro.

I expect this to be seated firmly in the 3 Stars section when it comes out.
Ridley hasn't made a true classic for 12yrs now (Gladiator) and I don't feel this will be any different to all the other mid-of-the-road fodder (Body Of Lies, Kingdom Of Heaven, American Gangster, Robin Hood) that he's been churning out for the past decade.
This film is getting hyped up waaaaaay too much and it'll be good.....but not great. 'Aliens' will still be the best Xenomorph film when all this is done, with I expect, 'Alien' still being a close second. This won't surpass either film. More

Ok, so in Alien doesn't the Space Jockey have a "chestburster" style hole in his mid-section? If it is where is the Alien that came out of there and what the hell would it look like? The Alien 3 Xenomorph was more dog-like so the one out of a Space Jockey would be very strange. My guess is that the Aliens are very much in this. More

At first I thought that the chances of any Xenomorph's in Prometheus were slim. Now I'm much more more confident there will be. If you notice on one of the shots of the medical bed on the person's face it looks like a facehugger. Also "Cut it off! Cut it off!" could refer to a facehugger. If The Space Jockey's have manufactured the Xenomorphs as biological weapons then maybe the Xeno's appear but not in the way we remember. Maybe the Jockeys unleash some sort of early prototype on the crew and the film ends with the Jockeys perfecting the Xeno's and then someone setting of the beacon from Alien and unleashing the now perfected Xeno's on the jockeys. It makes sense and could easily fit. Oh June where are you? More

There's definitely some sort of Chestburster looking thing on Pic #47 You can see it better if you frame by frame the trailer.
Also; in #44 they appear to be trying to burn someone who's on the ground. You can see the helmet.
