Toy Story (1995) It took quite a while to find the right Woody. At one point, he was a ventriloquist's dummy, but he dwarfed Buzz (aka Lunar Larry, early in the development process). Sketch artist Bud Luckey hit upon the solution. Says Lasseter, "He said, 'Have you considered making the dummy a cowboy?' I knew it was just perfect.".
