THE GOURMET GUIDE
TO PICK 'N' MIX

01
THE CLASSIC COLA BOTTLE

Coming in fizzy and non-fizzy varieties – still and sparkling – this is the sina qua non of whatever sized bag you're filling; true pick'n'mix royalty. If there were such a thing as a cola bottle bottle bank, it would remain eternally empty.

1 Sour Cherries
No Sour Cherries? What kind of scam is this? More

Posted on Monday April 22, 2013, 15:00 by goodkingalf

2 Jelly Cherries
Where are the jelly cherries? or even the foam shrimps/prawns? In my eyes and taste buds these are the giants of pick'n'mix (though they rarely do both together). More

3 There can be only One.
It has to be Wine Gums for the win. Its not that the other sweets don't have their merits its just that Wine Gums stand head and shoulders above the rest as the most Om-Nom-Nommable! More

Posted on Wednesday April 17, 2013, 15:23 by dingerhoffen

4 I also tend to steer clear of the American Hard Gums. I'm not being patriotric its just that there's always a bit that gets stuck in my teeth and trying to coax it out with my tongue detracts from the enjoyment of my movie going experience. More

5 Is it just me?
Does anyone else's cinema not have giant alligators, I swear mine used too but they dissapeared. My votes for the cables, though the coke bottle's a close second. Who else waits for the a quieter moment in the film before they eat their dolphin or snake so that they enjoy it just that little bit more without the distraction of an action sequence?...Anyone...? 9 All the best ones are missing (from Central London cinemas)
No Foam Shrimps. No Dolly Mixtures. No Marshmallows. No Jazzies. No Snowies. No Cola Cubes. No Flying Saucers. what is the World coming too! More

Posted on Monday April 15, 2013, 08:38 by tristankayes

10 The chocolate mice probably. I would go for the evil skulls but your chosen variation is one that doesn't have the pink inside. But no shrimps? For why? More

11 You missed out my favourite... jelly cherries! More

Posted on Sunday April 14, 2013, 11:23 by Biggus

12 The Giant Dolphin...
...is a Giant Shark in the US, for some reason. I voted for the chocolate covered raisins, but the Dolph was a close contender. More

21 FFTW!
That's Fudge For The Win. The best picked mix however it's hefty weight can always make the bag far too expensive a purchase. More

Posted on Wednesday April 10, 2013, 16:46 by Y2Neildotcom

22 Marshmallows. Where are the marshmallows!? However I will say that any sweet that is quiet when eaten is good for the cinema. Who thought crisps and cinema - that sounds like a good combination! As for the person sitting in front of me with other week with a packet of digestives... well least said the better! I may have issues on this subject! More

26 Oh my... such choice!
I've never tried half of these (Giant Dolphin?!) I wish the jelly cherries were there :( But my winner has to be the Classic Cola Bottle.. but they have to be the good ones, not the thick hard ones (hehe, thick hard ones) More

32 Lovely!
Love the photos, gourmet pick 'n' mix! You should definitely do a vote on favourite cinema snack though; hot dogs, nachos, pick 'n' mix, ice cream etc... I'm sure you probably have already. Either way (as if this vote wasn't procrastination enough) I'm now going to the shop to buy sweets and not continue with this assignment... More
