One Man Armies
Walker
PLAYED BY LEE MARVIN
FILM POINT BLANK

Click, clack. Click, clack. That's right, Walker's coming and he doesn't care who knows it. His righteous fury is understandable - firstly, he's Lee Marvin and secondly, when your best mate shots you, nicks your cash and your woman and buggers off, leaving you in a puddle on Alcatraz, it's going to put you in a bit of a mood. Walker just does what any self-respecting mentalist would do: he gets better, puts on a nice new suit and then hunts down everyone who had anything to do with it and pretty much kills them. Brutally. Then he discovers that the ultimate perps are a shady organisation called, well, The Organisation, and kills them too. In fact, he's so busy killing people he forgets to get his cash back.

no Ripley? no jedi/sith? no Mad Max Rockatansky? no Terminator? no Murphy/Robocop? no Indi? no Anton (No Country)? no Leon? no Ash (Evil Dead)? no Neo? no Chen Zhen (Jet Li in Fist of Legend)? no Dutch? no John Mac? Saurons fair, but not Aragorn? (think the Orcs would disagree!?) not to mention no Lone Wolf!!!? Fair enough.. Uma's good with a blade (the bride deserves her place).. but no room for Ogami Itto!?...and if your gonna dip into the whole Marval thing by mentioning the Hulk, why stop there! you may as well through in Wolverene, Ironman, Batman etc etc... exactly! probibly needs a re-do i reckons!! I agree with bale in equilibrium, arnie in commando, clive owen in shoot em up, but why matt damon yeah he's got mean martial arts moves but is a crap character in an action movie sense Bruce lee could kick his arse. Also where is dolph lundren(may have spelt name wrong) as He-man and the character in dark angel. I think the most one man/cyborg army - robocop has killed more in two movies than arnie either did. 10 How could so many of you overlook the man?
Posted on Saturday November 14, 2009, 16:26 by kidbonham
Sure Empire dropped the sweaty blood smeared vest-ball on this one, but any idiot can see that John Mc-copter-kiler-Clane probably deserves spots one, two & three on this list, the dude could take it in the face from Neo and his lamp-post of doom for long enough to rip the usb lead from his digital asshole and set fire to it with his favourite zippo. While he's lying in the snow waiting for Holly's plane to land by the light of Neos burning corpse so he can f**k his marriage up let us take a moment to think about Indy. Yes Indiana Muthaf**kin Jones. The Badboy of Archeology, the One-man Crusade. ONE MAN CRUSADE. Were you guys watching Arnie doing muscle poses with a sword or Jean-Claude Van Damme flexing his belgian bottom when my man Indy was single-handedly taking on the Nazis while babysitting his ex or his ancient father? Oh sure the body count is a little below King Leonidas' but this man is saving the world, he doesn't have time to doorsurf while shooting people he's not lookRead More

13 Where the Hell is John McLane From Die Hard
Posted on Friday November 13, 2009, 21:01 by clancy130
Sorry to seem to be jumping on the die hard band wagon but you put Sudden Death in there which is clearly Die Hard on Ice. Same film except a failed cop aka a security guard instead of a NY Officer. Die Hard is the film that almost single handedly created the Action genre. What is empire thinking??? ' Nine million terrorists in the world and I gotta kill one with feet smaller than my sister.' I'm gonna join the chorus of why the hell is there no John McClane   but the main thing I wanted to point out is that John Matrix would make the Hulk his green bitch just to stretch himself out before opening a rather large and painful can of ass whoopery on Rambo   "Leve any for us John?" I mean, seriously, were you having a bad day or something? Top 25 one man armies and you don't pick out John McClain? The guy drove a car down an elevator shaft and then took on a fighter jet when he should have been pulling a pension for the love of God. And, just don't get me started on the lack of a Jedi / Sith. Are you crazy? Oh, and as an afterthough, what about our very own 007? Sure he had a lot of gadgets and a hot chick by his side, but he still did all the heavy lifting himself. Read More

Hulk didn't kill many people, if any. I thought Violent Cop would be there. It was hilarious. I think the comments made on the badasses are better than the actual list. Just makes me think it is written for younger people. Like 15-year-old hormonal boys. Quite fun list, though. Read More

26 Predictable blinkered list
Posted on Thursday November 12, 2009, 14:23 by Uncle Ludo
No Cyrano de Bergerac, Ito Ogami (Lone wolf) or Zatoichi? Poor list indeed. Lazzy lazy lazy. Cyrano takes on 100 men in one scene and comes out with a mere flesh wound. Ogami butchers his way though 6 films as an assassin and Zatoichi has killed hundreds in 26 films from the 60s and 70s and he's blind! I doubt if anyone on the list comes close to his kill count in hand to hand combat. Although the 3 mentioned aren't from english language films I would say that they are all well enough know to be included. Guys, why bother if you can't do it right? Read More

The rest that should be on the list; Neo, Leon, Staths character in the Transporter films!, Marky Mark in Shooter, Dirty Harry - he takes out everyone, Sean Connery in The Rock, Riddick, Riggs in Lethal Weapon, Travolta in Face Off... The Hulk shouldnt be on the list or Blade really, otherwise you have to include all the other superheroes etc etc... p.s. how camp is seagal in that picture with his beret, thats meant to look hard!?!? No Clint? Not even as the outlaw Josey Wales? No Maximus, taking down Rome not good enough for you? No V so close to Bonfire night? I'd remind you he featured as one of your all time best fight scenes some 3 years ago (I'm probably the only one who remembers that). Shame on you for not including more women, you could have had Charley from Long Kiss Goodnight, I'd rather sneak up on Sauron and chuck his ring into a volcano than try and sneak up on her with a kitchen knife.   Lastly let me add my voice to the chorus of where is McClain? 40 Where's Batman?
Posted on Monday November 9, 2009, 19:55 by Oswald
From Burton's classic '89 original, the sequel right up to Nolan's films, Batman has always been a one man army, taking on armies of henchmen controlled by the main villain and like in TDK, take out an entire swat team as well. While you're at it put John McClane on this list as well. Read More

Agree with all the omissions, some poorly chosen characters but I have to admit I enjoyed the way it was written.  Just highlights how delightfully batshit crazy most action films are.  No Leon though?  The dude takes on an entire swat team, takes a few bullets in the back, and still lives long enough to finish off Gary Oldman with a bunch of grenades he'd arrogantly strapped to his own body before going into a gunfight!  He should've got a mention. Neo, even before he went super-sayan killed a shitload of army dudes in the government lobby! Doesn't that make him a one man army?
