Quaid was in full American Football get-up working on Everybody's All-American back in 1989 when Tim Fox, real-life player for the New England Patriots, tackled the actor, resulting in a broken collarbone. "It was the very last hit I had to take, and I was going out of bounds. I guess a player once got his helmet knocked off one time when he was going out of bounds. They wanted to recreate that."
