Movie Scars
When celebrities really suffer for their art
In this era of CG stunt doubles, virtual buildings, green-screen falls and performance capture, you might think that actors would be safe from the rigors of on-set injury. You would be wrong. Just recently, Channing Tatum related a rather sore… point and that had us digging up more examples of movie stars with nasty nicks and hospital trips...

Charred Tatum

Who got hurt? Channing Tatum

What happened? Shooting The Eagle Of The Ninth in the chilly Scottish Highlands last October, Tatum had to endure some scenes wading through a cold river.

"The only way to keep warm was by pouring a mix of boiling water and river water down your suit," he told Details magazine. "We were finally done shooting for the day, and one of the crew guys asks if I want to warm up before I go. I'm like, 'Nah, I'm good.' And then I thought, 'Why not?'

"Thing is, he'd forgotten to dilute the kettle water. So he poured scalding water down my suit. And I was trying to pull the suit away from my body to somehow get away from the boiling water, and the more I pulled the suit away, the lower the water went. It just went straight down and pretty much burned the skin off the head of my d**k."

Gentlemen, begin crossing your legs. We're pleased to report his, er, manhood is apparently healthy again, but the hour-long drive to the hospital can't have been fun.

Perhaps Viggo Mortensen should be in there? Didn't he break a toe during a scene in LOTR: the two towers, which they kept in the film? Then they went hunting orcs. On foot. And I think he really was sick in the Road. Read More
