Movies Lost In Limbo
The films stuck in development hell
Some films get shoved into production faster than you can say "franchise potential". And some…linger. There are films that have been smoldering for years, or for decades. With the recent talk of a new Gremlins in 3D, we thought we'd peek into limbo and track the progress of those still wandering the caverns of Development Hell...

Gremlins 3

Potted History: This is one of those projects that forever seems stuck on "vapourware" status - various people have talked about it possibly happening, but nothing seems to. Back in 2004, Joe Dante told us that he doubted Gremlins 3 would ever happen, but fast-forward to 2009 and he admitted that he'd heard it was in development, with a remake the most likely possibility.

Current Status: 3D-obsessed blog MarketSaw reported their sources telling them that both Ghostbusters 3 and any possible new Gremlins outing would both feature dimensionalised footage, but there's no solid script or director in place as yet.

3 ARTEMIS FOWL

What about Artemis, we've been hearing that Eion Colfers best selling childrens series will be made into films since the 3rd book and we now have 6 hopefully 7 books soon, this ones a no brainer, as the books are so much better than Potter for stories, originality, charactors, action and humour and would translate brilliantly onto the big screen, the studio suits need to sort this one, lets hope it happens soon along with Skulduggery Pleasent on the big screen as well. 4 Faster Pussycat Kill Kill

What's happened to the Tarantino remake of this great film? He's the only person alive that I would trust to improve the original. Will this film still be in limbo and the subject of whispered rumours 20 years from now? Read More

The absence of The Subtle Knife is glaring (and who can be bothered with The Amber Spyglass anyway? Yawn!) but apart from Sandman, I would rather all of these films remained dead in the water. Live action Jetsons? Wonder Woman? Did anyone even read the comic if Superman or Batman weren't in it?! Read More

No mention of GHOSTBUSTERS III? Weird! I'd love to see a Thundercats film. I think that either Peter Jackson and James Cameron would be ideal to direct it. Bring Bernard Hoffer in to compose the score. Get a good writer in to adapt "Exodus" (the first episode). Get a talented group of actors who have the ability to convictingly recreate the characters. If done right it could be great. Read More

It's all about Good Omens for me.  Will Gilliam make it? Won't he?  I'd love to see the movie, but considering Terry Gilliam's last really good movie was 12 Monkeys 15 years ago, if it does happen I don't expect it to be great.  Great to look at, sure, but not great to watch. Read More

ppenned to the rest of the Dark Materials Trilogy?? The Golden Compass ends with a cliffhanger and there's no Subtle Knife in the horizon.here wont be a Subtle Knife, it was quietly canned after the collapse of New Line a couple of years back. The reason was somewhat due to the big debacle over the distribution money, the fact that America showed little interest and the controversy didn't seem to create a money-spinning furore. Personally I believe it may also be down to the fact that by toning down the anti-christian elements of the plot, the writers had shot themselves in the foot. If the Subtle Knife was ever made, along with the Amber Spyglass, the story would have very little to do with original text as the film adaptation of Northern Lights changed the Christian threat into a 'cult of authority'. As the next two books are pretty much focused on bringing about the war in heaven, the Metatrone, homosexual angels, original sin, and the possible death of God, how on earth woulRead More

What happenned to the rest of the Dark Materials Trilogy?? The Golden Compass ends with a cliffhanger and there's no Subtle Knife in the horizon.
