Livin' Like A Movie Star
Langan's Brasserie
Proprietor: Michael Caine

Location: Mayfair, London, UK

"In a restaurant in a West End town/Call the police, there's a madman around." So sang The Pet Shop Boys, a lyric that could easily have been inspired by Michael Caine's business partner Peter Langan, with whom Caine set up one of London's most iconic restaurants in 1976. Langan's hard-boozing lifestyle makes Keith Floyd look like Little Bo Peep, overshadowing Caine's involvement in what was the Ivy of its day. Serving comfort food like 'Field Mushrooms & Bacon', 'Salmon Soufflé', and - wait for it - 'Mange Tout, Thousands of 'em', it was a magnet for stars like Marlon Brando, Grace Kelly and Dustin Hoffman. Although Caine recently sold out, he'lll forever be associated with this legendary corner of Mayfair, which is all the excuse we need to add him to the list.
