The suave Emmerdale star didn't have much of a movie career, but we'll always remember his role as the hapless Simon Aron in Hammer's greatest film, The Devil Rides Out. It's his tampering with Satanic forces that he doesn't understand that sets the film's events in motion. To be fair, Mower doesn't make an enormous impression – but then again, next to the towering presence of Christopher Lee (for once, playing the good guy), Galactus himself would struggle to be noticed.

Although I love Mr Stewart, I have to go with Patrick Warburton - fantastic as The Tick he also showed up in the criminally underated Disney film The Emperors New Groove as Kronk, the all muscle, no brain sidekick.
