Macnee's movie career never really got off the ground because of one small problem: John Steed. The Avengers typecast the jovial English actor so comprehensively that he never really got a chance to show anything amounting to range, instead showing up as eccentric toffs in the likes of cult horror Waxwork, This Is Spinal Tap's posh record label boss Sir Dennis Eton-Hogg and, best of all, a thinly-veiled Steed retread alongside Roger Moore's 007 in A View To A Kill. He played knights in all three, incidentally – and, frankly, if you'd told us he was next in line to the throne, we'd be all a-quiver.

Although I love Mr Stewart, I have to go with Patrick Warburton - fantastic as The Tick he also showed up in the criminally underated Disney film The Emperors New Groove as Kronk, the all muscle, no brain sidekick. The bit where he does his own theme tune is classic! So if you haven't seen it yet peeps, get a copy! Read More
