For all of Equilibrium’s flaws, there’s no denying that the Gun-Kata sequences kick large amounts of leather-clad ass. Of the countless classic finishers on offer, the pick of the bunch has to be the sequence where Cleric John Preston (Christian Bale) is stopped by shotgun-wielding Tetragrammaton thugs. With two pump-actions pointed squarely at his temples, Preston zens out, and, in a masterfully conceived bit of kung faux, flips the shotguns around, catches them by the handles and shoots both former owners in the face, all without even turning his head. Now that is how you kill someone.
