There's been a lot of hype about Pai Mei�s five-point palm exploding heart technique in Kill Bill Vol. 2 before we actually get to see it. We are told that, when executed perfectly, the victim�s heart is, well, doomed to explode after five steps. This throws up questions such as, �could you survive it indefinitely if you didn�t take five steps?�, but we digress. In the climax, Uma Thurman�s The Bride takes David Carradine�s Bill by surprise when she suddenly reveals, in a show-don't-tell kinda way, that martial arts masterPai Mei successfully taught her the technique . We�ve studied it carefully, and reluctantly concluded that while it might bruise, it would actually be bugger all use in a fight. Nevertheless, it gives Bill a noble death, collapsing silently to the ground after that fatal fifth step.
