Matt Damon: The Most Self-Deprecating Star In Hollywood
Why The Informant! star loves to take the mickey... from himself

The Informant!, out this week, sees Matt Damon play a self-important, overweight, slightly deluded and completely unreliable businessman. This, ladies and gentlemen, is not your typical A-lister role - but then Damon's not your typical A-lister. He seems willing, even eager, to send himself up at every opportunity, and the web is littered with examples of Matt Damon pulling his own chain. Here are a few of the very best.

Warning: Empire takes no responsibility for those of you who develop helpless, all-consuming crushes on Matt Damon as a result of watching these videos.

Matt Damon: The Most Self-Deprecating Star In Hollywood
Good Will Hunting 2

When Jay and Silent Bob Struck Back, the sad fact is that they weren't the funniest thing in their own film. That'd be Matt Damon and Ben Affleck bickering like Dynasty characters as they shoot Good Will Hunting 2, wherein Affleck slags off his friend for "whatever-gay-serial-killers-who-ride-horses-and-like-to-play-golf-touchy-feely-picture you're supposed to be doing this week". Damon wins the exchange, however, simply by mentioning Reindeer Games. Then they turn their Oscar-winning drama into a brainless action movie. Utter genius.

I've loved Matt Damon for such a long time and its precisely because of his totally obvious down to earth personality he has.  I just sat and hooted through all those clips, despite seeing most of them before.  I think my personal favourite and the one I've watched the most is the red carpet bump by Guillermo because you can tell this one wasn't planned.  Matt's face when he realises Guillermo is with Kemmel's show is brilliant - you can see it in his reluctant grin that he's thinking, 'oh no, he didn't just do that to me!'  You can see he's walking away thinking 'the swine!'  I absolutely love it. As for Team America - I actually sometimes get frustrated by the constant quoting of that because, his ability for self deprecation aside, I genuinely rate Matt Damon as an actor, and I can't say ghim in that respect without yecting with 'Maaatt Daaamon', it can get so tedious if you're trying to enjoy a serious conversation about him.  That said, I Read More
