Tony Blair | The Queen (2006)
Tony Blair
The Queen (2006)

'Michael who?' The reaction when Sheen's name was mooted for the role of Blair in Peter Morgan's TV drama, The Deal, didn't bode well. As it turned out, Sheen was so good that Stephen Frears cast him as the erstwhile PM for a second time in The Queen. Sheen's blend of youthful feist and nervy energy generate some of that film's best scenes, his terse exchanges with Helen Mirren's monarch providing much of its dramatic centre. He returns to the role this summer when shooting starts on the final part of the Blair trilogy. Sadly, rumours that he'd be putting that Blair grin to more use as the Cheshire Cat in Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland have proved unfounded - he's appearing as the White Rabbit.

Ha ha! I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure that writer Jeremy Dyson of "The League of Gentlemen" (1966-present) would find ro551979's comment absolutely hysterical, and possibly agree with them in a self-deprecating way! Read More
