The ArtistNews Editor Chris Hewitt: In the shortsighted absence of that arthouse fave, Fast Five, I’m going to plump for Michel Hazanavicius’ The Artist. Ok, so it’s a slight cheat as I saw it at Cannes, but I fell in love with the French director’s hugely ambitious and boundlessly inventive silent B&W movie back then, and the flame hasn’t diminished since. Reuniting Hazanavicius with his OSS 117: Cairo Nest Of Spies stars, Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo, this tale of a silent movie star on the decline is a dazzling hymn to film, and the possibilities of filmmaking, and should, if there’s any justice, turn Dujardin into a global superstar.

| 1 | | Am I the only one who's bothered about A Dangerous Method? Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender and Keira Knightley in a David Cronenberg film. What else can you say? More

| | 2 | Good pick | Wish I could get down to see "The Descendants" and the Payne Q&A - but damn - I'm away! Good choice though - should be another great Payne movie. More

| | 4 | | I love every political film Clooney has made so far, they're so watchable especially for someone who doesn't know a thing about American politics. Also very, very, very excited about The Artist, as lover of Silent films :D I went to see the Bristol Silent Comedy Slapstick Festival when I was at uni in Falmouth, I just hope that my local cinema in Plymouth will show the darn film :/ More
