I could never take Brosnan or Dalton seriously in the fight scenes ( although the latter had that malevolent look). And as for Moore's scenes, they were overly choreographed and practised to the point of a 'Universal' rating.
Let's not forget that Lazenby ( despite all his detractors ) was introduced in three rapid, particularly effective fight scenes at the start of 'Her Majesty's Secret Service'. And if all is to be believed, he busted a stunt-man's nose during his audition. Connery was a big man and looked like he did the stunts for real, whether fighting in a cramped elevator or railway carriage. Which leaves Craig ... do you think he's more effective than Connery and Lazenby together? More

Let's get this straight - I love watching all of these Bond actors. It's the only series that offers a variation on a long running and successful formula. But if you want me to be objective, I will ... Connery was exemplary. He had the brutal looks, physicality and wit that made him credible. His performance and charisma peaked with 'Goldfinger' and then he grew disenchanted and bored with the role ( it clearly shows in 'You Only Live Twice'). He redeemed himself with 'Diamonds' and then seemed to forget how he should play the role in 'Never Say Never Again'. He still remains the King.
The unfairly derided Lazenby never got that chance to redeem himself. He is unfairly lambasted and sniggered at, when he had the guts or foolishness to succeed Connery. Moore was perfect for the Seventies. He was the court jester, dapper gentleman and Casanova rolled into one. Even though he might have overstayed his welcome with 'A View to a Kill', I was sorry to see him go. I didn't wanMore

One of the best pub arguments you can have....who was the better Bond ?
Sean Connery made the mould. Roger Moore broke the mould. Dalton was moody, Brosnan was sultry and Craig is just bad ass.
Best forget about Lazonby eh ?
You can find what you are looking for in each. Want a stupid action movie, go with Roger Moore. Want a classic spy movie, go with Connery. I personally cannot wait to see what Craig does with the francise. Keep it real guys. No more invisible cars and ice palaces please. More

Brosnan's final two movies were poor but the fact is he was the best ever bond imho. He got the mix of humour and cold blooded spot on. Connery was excellent but Brosnan just managed to steal the crown from him. I didn't really rate Moore at all. Considering he played the role more than anyone else I think he only got the character "right" three times (and coincidentaly those three time just happen to be the only three decent films from his era: TSWLM, FYEO and Octo). Lazenby was acceptable. Both Craig and Dalton play the character identically as far as I'm concerned and whilst it's not a "bad" performance it's not great either. At least in Dalton's case LTK WORKED for his take on Bond...as of yet Craig hasn't had a script that works for the deadly serious take on the character. BTW I don't acknowledge NSNA as a bond film because imho it sucks. Then again, I also thought Thunderball sucked to begin with. More

I really think it would be great to see actor Pierce Brosnan back as James Bond. I do think he was outstanding and I thought he was treated very badly before they changed to Daniel Craig.I keep thinking of Robert Shaw every time I watch Daniel Craig. For those who decrying the missing NSNA, I wouldn't have an issue having it listed if not for the fact that it was essentially a remake of Thunderball, using the same actor. All that nonsense aside I think 5 is a good number for any actor, assuming the standard 2 year gap between films. Once Craig leaves, it's Fassbender time! More

I think all the Bonds are good, even Lazenby, but Sean is still the best. Daniel is the best since King Dog. But Sean pretty much invented the screen Bond, as well as the modern action movie hero. There would be no wisecracking Riggs, McClane or Arnold without Big Tam first. And though it may pain you to see him looking frail these days, he still has the old cool charm and presence. Just look at him gate crashing the press conference to congratulate Andy Murray, another Scots hero BTW. More

I am a huge fan of the original books, i would love to see an actor like Mr Fassbender get the role and take it back to the 60's. It just looks great and due to Mad Men the sixties are back in vogue.
I am really enjoying the Daniel Craig Bond film's i think the character is being shown for how messed up he truly is. More

I'm not going to comment on the omission of 'Never Say Never Again'. However, Connery's 2nd and final curtain call as Bond, made me wonder. In an ideal world, I would love to see Timothy Dalton or Pierce Brosnan reprise the role in a rogue, unofficial production - possibly in an adaptation of John Pearson's excellent 'authorised biography of 007'. Brosnan could have the last laugh, wagging his two fingers at Broccoli & Wilson, after he was ignominiously dumped.
I suppose Connery or Moore could be discounted - although, I would pay good money to see a C.G.I. version of them as they were in the 1960s and '70s, respectively.
What do you think? Who would you like to see return? More

I agree with some folks here. I'm a BOND affectionado and even though NSNA isn't an official Bond film it's still a BOND-film. It's Sean Connery portraying James Bond in a serious feature film. Casino Royale '67 is a spoof and doesn't count. Casino Royale '54 is just a small short tv episode and is also not part of this but NSNA should be.! More

The fact that NSNA isn't a so-called "official" film does not erase the fact Sean Connery played James Bond in it. Therefore, he played Bond 7 times. There's no argument. Ask yourself this: if Connery played Bond in 6 "unofficial" films instead of 1, would you still say he played Bond only 6 times (instead of 12)? 1967's Casino Royale can be discounted because it was a SPOOF using the James Bond character. More

never say never again may not be "official" but it does feature Kim Basinger and James Bond playing an early version of an X Box which can kill you :) I think it counts myself.
