10 Great Jack Black Performances | Ian Lamont 10 Great Jack Black Performances
Ian Lamont
The Jackal
His biggest role up to that point, Black made a real impact as a slobbish engineering genius hired by Bruce Willis' assassin to build him a remote control rig for a giant gun.

Best moment: In the grand tradition of movie characters who don't know when to keep their mouths shut, Lamont gets greedy and tries to blackmail the Jackal. And, in the grand tradition of movie characters who have no idea when they're being set-up, he agrees to accompany him to a firing range to test out the 20mm cannon Willis will use to attempt to kill the First Lady. At which point The Jackal decides to use him for some target practice. Result: one severed arm, followed by a fiery and spectacular death.

Does he sing? The only notes Lamont's concerned with are the ones he's trying to extricate from The Jackal.

None more Black? This is more like it. Flippant wisecracks, greasy long hair, a wired manic energy which contrasts nicely with Willis' dialled-down performance: this is the turn that may have put Black on the map.

L: kurum "Although Nacho Libre isn't an entirely successful attempt to blend the innocent appeal of School Of Rock (Mike White wrote both movies) with the off-beat dynamics of Napoleon Dynamite (Jared Hess directed both)..." I thought Richard Linklater directed School of Rock? sp; Empire are saying Jared Hess directed both Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, not School of Rock & Napoleon Dynamite. Read More
