10 Great Jack Black Performances | Po 10 Great Jack Black Performances
Po
Kung Fu Panda
Black had dabbled in the world of animation before this, with turns in the godawful Shark Tale and the first Ice Age. But Kung Fu Panda, in which he plays a lovable, clumsy panda who dreams of becoming a mighty warrior, gave him his biggest hit to date. It's also DreamWorks Animation's finest hour, a visually stunning, exciting and often very funny action movie. A sequel is on its way.

Best moment: The end fight, in which Po takes on Ian McShane's legendary villain, Tai Lung, is extraordinarily impressive, but we're plumping for the constant interplay between Po and Dustin Hoffman's world-weary Master Shifu, which pays off with a closing line worthy of Wilder.

Does he sing? Over the end credits, with a revamped version of - what else? - Kung Fu Fighting.

None more Black? Not really. The OTT vocal work is kept to a minimum here, with Black bringing a refreshing sweetness to Po. But the boundless enthusiasm and obsession with awesomeness is 100% Black.

L: kurum "Although Nacho Libre isn't an entirely successful attempt to blend the innocent appeal of School Of Rock (Mike White wrote both movies) with the off-beat dynamics of Napoleon Dynamite (Jared Hess directed both)..." I thought Richard Linklater directed School of Rock? sp; Empire are saying Jared Hess directed both Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, not School of Rock & Napoleon Dynamite. Read More
