How To Win At Poker, The Movie Way If They're Cheating, Cheat Better The Sting (1973)
You don't have to be a master confidence trickster for this one, but that really would be awesome. Swill some booze about your mouth so you stink like a speakeasy's back alley, crook your tie, and generally behave like a poker-loving lout with a big bundle of moolah burning a hole in his waistcoat pocket. Continually mispronounce your mark's name (much to his displeasure), slow play him until you can tell he's going to cheat then one up him with better cards of your own. Nimble fingers at the ready here, and don't forget to have the same brand of cards as him. Seriously, we really can't emphasise that enough.
The players: Henry Gondorff (Paul Newman) against Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw)
Decisive cards: Four of a kind (Jacks) and a 6 against four of a kind (9s) and a 10.
Key tactics in this strategy:
When you're pretending to be sloshed, drink watered-down gin so they won't notice the difference.
Have the brightest, sharpest, sparkliest blue eyes in creation for them to get lost in.
Know (for certain) they don't cheat with Queens. That would be awkward.

"Remember that you couldn't have played it any other way. The odds were so high in your favour you'd have been even more of a fool to not have called him."
Wrong. The Kid could have just called, he should have known that it was obvious to a player the caliber of Lancey would have to have put him on either an A or a 10 in the hole from the beginning of the hand. The Kid committed the cardinal sin of raising when you can only be called by a better hand. Read More
