The Other Council Of Elrond

There’s no love lost here between Mr Half-Elven (Hugo Weaving) and Thorin, as the former advises against storming a dragon-held mountain – which is generally good advice. “So this is your purpose, to enter the mountain? There are some who would not deem it wise.” What’s the big crystal thing, and why are they underground? We’re not sure, but we’d guess it relates to the passage in the book where Elrond spots the hidden “moon-letters” on their map, which can only be read by moonlight. Elrond is holding something, and it could be the map. It’s safe to say, however, that Rivendell appears to have some surprises in store for us. Note that Balin also gets to come to this council, emphasising that, as in the book, he’s essentially Thorin’s deputy.

1 RE: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – Trailer Breakdown
what looks like John Callen’s Ori laying the smackdown on a goblin ne’er-do-well as the dwarves attempt to escape the goblin habitat. Callen plays Oin, not Ori. But great breakdown, thanks! More

L: rosiecotton Gimli: "If anyone was to ask for my opinion, which I note they're not, I'd say we were taking the long way 'round. My cousin BALIN would give us a royal welcome." I read the name on the breakdown and that's the first thing that popped into my head. lol!!! p; Correct, but Ori went with Balin when they recaptured Moria and it was he who wrote in the book. Note also that the battle with the orcs takes place next to the grave of "Balin, son of Fundin, Lord of Moria" and so he couldn't write the book as he was dead.   I have seen those films far too many times :) I've read the book quite a few too :D More

9 cave troll????
That's not a c ave troll in number 26. Look at the colour, and the crown on the head. If I'm not mistaken that is the Great Goblin King, as mo-capped and voiced by Barry Humphries. More

Eeek, someone needs to read up The Hobbit again for some of the details. In the book the 13 dwarves AND Bilbo are captured by the goblins and Gandalf follows unseen. But anyway, great breakdown. More
